A baccarat game has three main bets: Player, Banker, and Tie. Two hands are dealt, card totals keep only the last digit, and fixed drawing rules determine whether a third card appears. Beginners should practice 20 demo hands using only Player and Banker, calculate totals before the interface reveals them, and record how each result settles. Avoid side bets until you can explain the base round.

Card values and totals

Aces count as one. Cards 2–9 use face value. Tens, jacks, queens, and kings count as zero. Add the cards and keep only the final digit:

  • 7 + 2 = 9;
  • 8 + 7 = 15, so the total is 5;
  • king + 6 = 6;
  • 9 + 8 + 7 = 24, so the total is 4.

The hand closest to nine wins. A two-card total of eight or nine is a natural and ends drawing for both hands.

The three bets

Player

The Player bet wins when the Player hand finishes closer to nine. “Player” is only the hand label; it does not mean your own cards.

Banker

The Banker bet wins when the Banker hand finishes closer to nine. Many tables charge commission on Banker wins or use an adjusted payout rule. Read the exact table information before comparing stakes.

Tie

Tie wins when both totals match. It offers a larger payout because the event is less frequent. The exact payout can vary. At a standard baccarat table, a Tie returns the stake on an existing Player or Banker bet; check the displayed rules for any variant. For a beginner drill, record ties but do not bet them.

Third-card flow

You do not choose hit or stand. The game applies fixed rules. A natural eight or nine ends the drawing process. Otherwise, Player draws on 0–5 and stands on 6–7. If Player stands, Banker draws on 0–5 and stands on 6–7.

When Player draws a third card, use this standard Banker table:

Use one virtual unit per hand and a simple record sheet.

Hands 1–5: calculate totals

Do not bet Tie. Before the game displays totals, add each hand and keep the final digit. Mark any natural eight or nine.

Hands 6–10: predict the draw

Pause mentally after the first four cards. Predict whether Player draws. Watch how Banker responds, then compare with the rule panel.

Hands 11–15: settlement

Alternate Player and Banker bets. Record starting balance, one-unit stake, winner, payout, and ending balance. Note any Banker commission or adjusted settlement.

Hands 16–20: mobile controls

Use undo once before betting closes, open the rules between hands, and switch orientation after hand 18 settles. After hand 19, switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data and wait for history before hand 20.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Adding to 12 instead of keeping the last digit 2.
  • Thinking “Banker” means the casino always wins.
  • Choosing Tie because its payout is large.
  • Placing side bets before reading their separate paytable.
  • Doubling stake after a loss.
  • Pressing bet again while a reconnected table is still restoring history.

Minimum-bet planning

If a table minimum is ₱50 and you want 20 hands, base exposure is ₱1,000 before replay and commission effects. A ₱20 table reduces base exposure to ₱400. Choose the table from the planned number of hands, not the prestige of the room.

Keep one unit throughout the practice. Changing from ₱20 to ₱100 after a streak destroys the comparison and compresses the remaining balance.

Live versus RNG baccarat

Live baccarat streams a dealer and uses timed betting. RNG baccarat produces results through software and often runs faster. Rules may be similar, but device demands differ.

Use RNG for learning totals without a timer. Move to live demo or minimum play only after you can follow settlement. On prepaid data, lower stream quality and verify the timer remains synchronized with video.
